Washoe County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigation Team has determined not to file charges following an extensive investigation of a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist and a Washoe County School District bus.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018. The motorcycle was traveling westbound on La Posada Drive just west of the Rockwell Boulevard roundabout when it struck a school bus that was making a left turn from a business driveway to the eastbound lane of La Posada Drive. Medical personnel pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.
The Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team conducted a month-long investigation which included a re-enactment of the accident along with witness interviews and accident scene diagrams.
The investigation concluded that, based on conditions, neither driver was able to see the other in time to take evasive action. Based on that conclusion, investigators are requesting that no charges be filed.
