Services for Inmates
Commissary
The Commissary vendor stocks snack foods, writing papers, stamped envelopes, toiletries, over-the-counter medications, and art materials. Each Housing Unit receives commissary once a week. Orders can only be placed in-house by the inmate. You can put money on an inmates account via the internet:www.jailatm.com
Medical Unit
The Medical Unit provides 24-hour healthcare services for individuals housed at the Washoe County Detention Facility. Prescription medications are provided as medically necessary and dental care is available by appointment.
Family & Friends Medical Information Line
The Washoe County Sheriff's contracted medical provider, NaphCare, offers a Family & Friends Line to facilitate communication between medical staff, family members, friends, and healthcare providers regarding an inmate's medical needs.

- Current medications

Please note that due to HIPPA privacy regulations, medical staff may be limited to the information they can disclose or discuss with family members and other parties.
Mental Health Concerns
If you have concerns regarding the mental health or well-being of an individual housed in the detention facility, please call 1-800-592-4611 and provide the inmate's name, facility, and your concerns.
If you believe there is an immediate emergency, call 911.
Medical Records Requests
Former inmates, authorized representatives, attorneys, and healthcare providers seeking medical records should submit their requests to recordrequest@naphcare.com
Medical Record requests may require completion of authorization forms and identify verification before they can be released in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
Exercise Yards
Exercise yards are available for each Housing Unit.
Library Services
Inmates have access to books, games, legal forms and reference materials through Library Services and Washoe Legal Services. There is a Library Aid available on-site to assist with answering inmates library book requests with services funded by the Inmate Commissary Trust Fund.
Religious Services
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has one full-time and one part-time Chaplain on-site. They are responsible for ensuring the spiritual care for all inmates by interfacing with other interfaith denominations. Religious materials are available upon request from the inmates. Various faith based organizations conduct study groups in the evenings and weekends.
IWeb Visiting
Visitors are now able to conduct remote video visitations from your home, work, office or other remote location over the internet
Secure Mail
The Sheriff's Office accepts email messages for inmates. Click on https://smartinmate.com and follow the on-screen instructions to send an email to an inmate.
