The Washoe County Sheriff's Office arrested two suspects this afternoon in connection to the overnight burglary of approximately $40,000 worth of equipment from a REMSA ambulance.
The burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 8, 2018. The ambulance was parked outside a REMSA facility on Eagle Canyon Road near Pyramid Way in Spanish Springs.
Two suspects, later identified as Damian Hall, age 22, and Levi McGhee, age 19, were seen running in front of the 7-Eleven store on Eagle Canyon Road in possession of the stolen equipment.
A Washoe County Sheriff's ATAC detective spotted a person matching the description of one of the suspects in a van travelling eastbound on the I-80 freeway shortly before noon on Tuesday, May 8. Patrol deputies, NHP troopers, and Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Police responded for back-up. The van was pulled over near State Route 247 and Commerce Center Drive in Fernley. Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident.
"No patient information was compromised," according to a statement issued earlier today by REMSA, "This incident has not impacted REMSA's system-wide availability."
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information that may be useful to investigators is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900. Refer to case number: WC18-2194.
