Regional Gang Unit Arrests Suspect on Charges Related to Golden Valley Park Fight

After a thorough investigation by the Regional Gang Unit (RGU), a juvenile suspect has been taken into custody on charges related to a fight that occurred at Golden Valley Park.

On May 10, 2024, at approximately 11:30 AM, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to Golden Valley Park following reports of a large fight involving approximately 50 individuals. During the course of the altercation, a firearm was discharged. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Following the initial response by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, the Regional Gang Unit launched an investigation to identify the suspect(s) involved in this incident.

On May 17, 2024, the Regional Gang Unit arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with the incident. The suspect now faces multiple charges related to the altercation at Golden Valley Park.

The Regional Gang Unit is a multi-jurisdictional team comprised of members from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, and the Washoe County School District Police Department. The Sheriff has deputized officers from each of these agencies to investigate cases anywhere in Washoe County.
