Office: 775-328-6336
Cell: 775-895-0027
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has been awarded a grant of $43,500 by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety. This funding will support the Sheriff's Office's participation in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaign from October 2023 to September 2024.
The Joining Forces program is a collaborative law enforcement effort aimed at reducing injuries and crashes through statewide awareness and enforcement efforts. The upcoming safety campaigns will target distracted and impaired driving, speeding, seatbelt use, and pedestrian safety.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office would like to remind our community that safety on our state's roads and highways is always a priority. All drivers are responsible for safe and responsible driving. Therefore, it is important to stay alert, slow down, never drive impaired, and obey all traffic laws.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to preserving a safe and secure community with professionalism, respect, integrity and the highest commitment to equality. Sheriff Darin Balaam is the 27th person elected to serve as the Sheriff of Washoe County since the Office was created in 1861. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office strives to ensure public safety by building trust and creating partnerships within the diverse communities in which we serve. We will promote the dignity of all people supported by our words and actions through open communication while fostering an environment of professionalism, integrity and mutual respect.
