RSONU and Nevada State Police Parole and Probation Arrest Reno man for Possession of Child Pornography

In October of 2022, the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU), Parole and Probation and the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force (ICAC) started an investigation involving George Redmon. Redmon is a convicted tier 2 Sex Offender and is registered in the state of Nevada.
The investigation culminated on October 17, 2023, when Redmon was arrested at his home in Reno by RSONU and Parole and Probation. Redmon was found in possession of over 1600 images of Child Pornography.
Redmon was charged with violation of NRS 200.730, (Possession of Visual Presentation Depicting Sexual Conduct of Person under 16 Years of Age) and is currently in custody at the Washoe County Jail.
The RSONU was formed in 1998 to be compliant with federal law passed in 1997.
There are approximately 1400 registered sex offenders in the Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County area.
These offenders are monitored by investigators from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, and Nevada State Police Parole and Probation.
The RSONU operates as a regional, multi-jurisdictional, and collaborative entity to carry out the requirements of community notifications as set forth in Chapter 179D of the Nevada Revised Statutes. The RSONU’s jurisdictional boundaries encompass all of Washoe County.
