Registered sex offender arrested for possession of child pornography

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives, along with partners of the Internet Crimes Against Children – Child Exploitation Task Force including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Sparks Police Department, and Nevada Attorney General’s Office have arrested 60-year-old James Cannel of Reno for possession of child pornography, a felony.
Cannel is a registered sex offender, previously convicted for Federal charges of possession of child pornography.
Cannel has been under investigation since May 2020, and this case stems from his Snapchat account.
