Two arrested for selling fentanyl-laced pills to undercover detectives

On July 15th and 16th detectives assigned to the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) arrested Justin Gardner-Edelman, 22, and Roman McGregor, 23, for selling nearly 200 fraudulent prescription pills to undercover detectives.

During the nearly two-month case, RNU detectives performed six controlled narcotics purchases from the duo. The purchased pills tested positive for the presence of fentanyl.

Gardner-Edelman faces a total 14 felony charges including: four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance; four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales; four counts of Sales of a Controlled Substance; and two counts of Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substances Act.

McGregor faces eight felony charges including: two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance; two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales; two counts of Sales of a Controlled Substance; and two counts of Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substances Act.

Fentanyl is an extremely dangerous synthetic opioid that has been associated with numerous recent overdose deaths in Washoe County.

The Regional Narcotics Unit is comprised of detectives from the following agencies: Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sherriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, University of Nevada Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
