The Washoe County Sheriff's Office confirms that they have received several reports today of emailed bomb threats demanding Bitcoin payments. The reports have come from various areas of the county and all appear to be hoaxes at this time.
Washoe County residents should be aware that these emailed hoax threats, similar to threats being received nationwide, are turning up in our region.
Anyone who receives such a threat is encouraged to check their home or business for anything unusual or suspicious, and report the threat to law enforcement if needed.
