Consolidated Extraditions Unit
Main Phone: (775) 785-6202
Consolidated Extraditions is responsible for all in- and out-of-state extraditions for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, the Reno Police Department and the Sparks Police Department.
The Extraditions Unit constantly scrutinizes every available option to provide the most cost-effective means of extraditing a fugitive. Personnel have devised a complex mechanism of networking with multiple agencies to leapfrog fugitives closer to Washoe County without using any Washoe County assets or funds. Cash awards have actually been received for this money-saving innovation.
For extraditions outside the State of Nevada, travel expenditures for the consolidated unit are reimbursed to the Washoe County's General Fund by the Nevada State Attorney General's Office.
