Sheriff's Office

Stay Safe Washoe Program

Stay Safe Washoe is an innovative, collaborative initiative between the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO), through the Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center, and business owners and residents within Washoe County. This program strengthens the WCSO's community policing efforts by integrating voluntary participation from privately- and publicly-owned security cameras to create a more connected information network. Stay Safe Washoe improves public safety through an enhanced ability to respond to emergencies, critical incidents and crime. Powered by AXON Fusus.

How it Works

Business owners and residents have two options for participating in Stay Safe Washoe:

  • Register the location of your camera(s)
  • Integrate your camera feed(s)

Registering a device is free and simple. Business owners and residents provide basic contact information and the location of their camera(s). If a public safety incident occurs nearby, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office will contact the camera owner to request relevant footage that may assist in the investigation. In this option, the WCSO does not have live access to registered cameras, only the ability to request video after an incident. By registering your camera(s), you help deputies quickly identify potential evidence, which can speed up investigations and improve the ability to solve crimes.

Business owners or residents may also choose to integrate their privately-owned video feeds with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office's unified camera network, providing real-time access to WCSO personnel at the Northern Nevada Real-Time Intelligence Center. This immediate visibility equips deputies with enhanced situational awareness during public safety incidents, improving response speed, coordination, and overall effectiveness.
