Assistant Sheriff: Administrative Bureau

Assistant Sheriff Sandra Barboza

Assistant Sheriff Barboza started with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in 1997 as a Deputy Sheriff in Detention.  Assistant Sheriff Barboza has experience in all three Bureaus: Administration, Detention, and Operations. She has served in several specialty assignments to include training, district court, Classification, Office of Professional Integrity,  Incline Village Commander, Detective Unit Lieutenant, and Honor Guard. She served as the Services Captain of the Detention Bureau prior to her appointment to Assistant Sheriff in 2024.

She has been awarded the Lifesaving medal and Meritorious Unit Citations.

Assistant Sheriff Barboza initiated the Women Leaders in Law Enforcement Committee with Sheriff Balaam. 

Assistant Sheriff Barboza is a graduate of the 150th Administrative Officer’s Course of the Southern Police Institute and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Assistant Sheriff Barboza is honored to serve the community through the Sheriff’s Office.
