Service fees are required so please review the fee schedule carefullyIf you are unsure of the fee amount please contact us. 

All documents for service MUST INCLUDE A LETTER OF INSTRUCTION with the name of the party to be served, their address and payment.  For your convenience an Instruction Sheet form is available down below,  If the request for service is mailed, payment must be in the form of a money order or cashier’s check only.  The fee schedule reflected in NRS 248.275, EFFECTIVE July 1, 2017, is as follows:

SERVICE FEE
For serving a summons or complaint, or any other process, by which an action or proceeding is commenced on every defendant $17.00 + Mileage*
For serving a subpoena, for each witness summoned $15.00 + Mileage*
For serving every order $15.00 + Mileage*
Notice (for Eviction) (each) $26.00 + Mileage*
Notice (for Eviction) ( two to ten to same location) (each) $20.00 + Mileage*
Eviction Order (Lock-out Order) $21.00 +
Mileage*
Writ-Execution (Writ: $15.00 and Writ of Garnishment $15.00 plus mailing of notice: $2.00) $32.00 + Mileage*
Writ-Attachment (Writ: $15.00 and Order: $15.00 plus mailing of notice - $2.00) $32.00 + Mileage*
Writ-Possession or Restitution (Writ: $21.00 and order: $15.00)  $36.00 + Mileage*
Posting property sales (per posting -- in most cases 3 postings must be made) $15.00
Certified mail (per mailing)  as of April 10, 2016 $6.74
Copies $3.00 per page
*Mileage (not to exceed $20.00) or 10 miles $2.00 per mile

To determine the mileage fee please utilize any common internet mapping program.

  • Starting address is District Court at 75 Court Street, Reno, NV
  • Enter the service address
  • Round up to the first whole number (ie: 6.1 miles rounds up to 7 miles)
  • Mileage is $2 per mile, not to exceed 10 miles. Multiply the number of miles times $2 (ie: 7 miles times $2 = $14).
  • Add the mileage to the base fee for the type of document to be served (see fee schedule). This is the total fee.

In order to expedite your request complete all fields and attach to your documents with payment.  Detailed instructions as to who or whom we are serving and the location(s) where they can be found is required; provide as much information as possible.  If you would like to have the proof of service or non-service returned to you please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  If an envelope is NOT provided, the paperwork and the original proof will be sent directly to the court.  Re-printed duplicate proofs, not copies of the original, are $3.00 each. 

 


IF YOU DO NOT:

  • provide thorough locate information 
  • provide enough copies for service 
  • provide the correct fee payment

YOUR DOCUMENTS WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU.

 

The Civil Section does not have access to court forms. 

This office does not store or retain any documents for safe-keeping.  Any additional copies will be filed into court with the proof or returned to the requester. 


Returned checks marked as non-sufficient funds will be brought to the attention of the Fraudulent Check Diversion Program of the District Attorney's Office.

NO REFUNDS will be issued.  There is no refund for an unsuccessful service.  We retain the fee for processing and due diligence for attempts made.  If you have any other questions please call the Civil Section at 775-328-3310.
