The Washoe County Sheriff's Office received a $13,000 grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety to purchase new equipment that will support their mission to increase safety on the county's roads.
Unsafe drivers traveling at excessive speeds is a concern for residents in many neighborhoods of the county. This grant will go towards the purchase of an additional radar trailer and update the Sheriff's Office existing radar equipment.
The equipment purchased through this grant assists Sheriff's Office motor deputies in their efforts to reduce speed related traffic crashes and the property damage, injuries, and fatalities that result from these crashes.
The Office of Traffic Safety grant was accepted by the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners during today's board meeting.
