The initial release had an incorrect date for the reported attempted abduction.
The correct date for the incident is Monday, February 5, 2018, between 12:10 p.m. and 12:15 p.m.
I apologize for the confusion.
Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives are investigating the report of a possible attempt to abduct a teenage girl in the area of North Valleys High School Tuesday afternoon and are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
Between 12:10 p.m. and 12:15 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018, a 16-year-old female was returning to the high school after lunch when the incident happened, according to reports. The victim said she was at the corner of Estates Road and Golden Valley Road when a white pickup truck turned on to Estates Road from the wrong direction and stopped next to her.
According to the victim, a suspect described as a white male in his 20s attempted to physically abduct her. The victim was able to get away and run across Golden Valley Road to the high school.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or have information useful to the investigation, is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
